Silent to the Bone by E.L. Konigsburg

Silent to the Bone

Connor’s best friend Branwell was accused of dropping his baby sister Nikki on the head. Since then Branwell had not spoken and has gone to a facility for Juveniles. Connor knows he didn’t do it. He tries to prove that he didn’t. He visits Branwell at the facility to try to find out the truth. He uses flashcards to communicate. He speaks to Branwell’s au pair (a nanny from a different country) Vivian. He soon realizes that there is more to Vivian than meets the eye. Vivian is the one who first blamed Branwell and will be against him in an upcoming trial. Will Connor be able to find out the truth and save his friend or will Vivian send Branwell to jail?

This book is great because it is all about a great friend helping another one out. People will realize what true friendship is about. I think people would also like it because it is filled with mystery, action, lies, and thrills.

Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer

Eclipse

The amazing sequel to New Moon (and also the third book to the Twilight Saga), Eclipse is a dark, impulsive romance about Bella Swan and Edward Cullen and their passion for each other. But when there is a killing spree in Seattle, Edward overreacts in order to keep Bella alive, and drags her off to Florida, far away from the little town in Forks, Washington to “visit her mom”. This confuses Bella, but when they return to Forks, she is shocked and frightened to find that her enemy vampire, Victoria, is still stalking her. As Stephanie Meyer quotes in Bella’s point of view ‘my former best friend(and werewolf) and my boyfriend, Edward (and vampire), bitterly hate each other’. But sometimes you have to join forces with someone you would rather avoid to protect somebody you both love from a common enemy. Soon they find that Victoria is leading a powerful army of newborn vampires (vampires just changed from humans) to hunt down Bella. A year ago, in Twilight ,Edward killed Victoria’s mate and now she wants revenge. She plans on going mate for mate, meaning Edward killed her mate, so she will kill his. The Volturi, a royal vampire family, are also intent on Bella’s heartbeat to stop one way or another because she is not supposed to know that vampires exist. Bella has made a deal with Edward’s father to become a vampire just after graduation, but graduation is still a week away. Will Edward and his family be able to protect Bella until then, or will it be too late?

I would highly recommend this amazing, “on the edge of your seat”, tear-jerker book to anyone. Even people who do not like to read or do not like vampire books have been known to love this book.

—————————————————————–

Twilight is about a girl named Bella who decides to move away from her mother in Arizona, to her father’s home in Forks, Washington, where there are rarely days with sunshine. Here, she finds an odd person by the name of Edward, who is captivating and breathtaking but very unusual. Bella is overwhelmed by him, and they soon become very close, almost inseparable, although their dispositions completely vary. All the while, Bella finds something very odd about him, and eventually comes to the conclusion that he is a vampire. Although she believes this, and knows that part of Edward thirsts for her blood, she is so madly in love with him, that she would never be able to live without him. Soon, Bella finds herself in a treacherous situation with a vampire hunting her down. Does she survive? Who is the vampire? Read for yourself to find out.

Twilight is the type of book that does not only entertain a certain audience. Anyone, from science fiction lovers, to hopeless romantics, will enjoy this book. Because it is filled with a little bit of every genre, many people will enjoy it. There is some romance, without the book becoming cheesy, a bit of suspense and adventure, mystery and some horror. The book is creepy in parts, yet completely addictive, and I found myself having a burning desire to continue on and find out what happens in the end of the book. It is a wonderfully written book, with a little bit of every genre mixed in, to suit many different people’s tastes.

Twilight is the first in its series. The book begins with Bella moving fom her mother in Phoenix to her dad in Forks, Washington. Forks is the most rainy town that has ever existed.  In this book Bella first meets some new friends. When the boy, Edward in Biology with her seems to hate her. He always stays clear away. Later in the story Bella finds out his darkest secret with her knowing that it explains why he stayed away.

I think other people would love this book. It includes suspense terror and love. It keeps you on edge at all points of it. This book is amazing and everyone should read it.

Airhead by Meg Cabot

Airhead

Airhead is about 17 year old New Yorker Emerson Watts or Em for short.  Em is a carefree girl who doesn’t care what people think of her and doesn’t particularly act feminine.  After a freak accident and being in a coma for a month, Em finds out that she got her life saved but she got a brain transfer to the body of teen supermodel Nikki Howard. Now everyone (with the exception of her parents and sister Frida) thinks that Em is dead. Now living in a totally different celebrity social world and getting whatever she wants, will the pressure get to Em?

Girls – especially who are interested in books like the Clique books – would enjoy this book. Every chapter ends in a bit of a cliffhanger and you just want to know what’s going to happen next. It’s a great book and a hard book to put down while reading it.

The Clique by Lisi Harrison

The Clique by Lisi Harrison

The Clique Series is about 5, 12 year old girls named Masie, Kristen, Dylan, Alicia, and soon Claire. These girls love fashion, the Seventeen magazine, and clothes! In the first book these 5, awesome girls go though boy problems to unpopularity problems in their amazing private all girls school. They will even try making their own brand of makeup! These girls will do anything for attention. In the end everything turns out great with their friendship and they are still popular. I hope you find this book interesting!

My favorite character is Claire because I relate to her in many ways. She can be quiet or loud and she is really friendly. What I can tell you is that everyone is different and everyone can to relate in someway with one character. That is why you’ll love this book.

Review by Emily F. – 6th Grade

The Clique is a series of books about 4 materialistic girls who are obsessed with fashion, boys, and popularity. Claire Lyons moves in with Massie Block (Leader of the girls’ group, The Pretty Committee) and the girls think she is a total dork. They fear that she will try to be friends with them and ruin their social status, so they pull pranks on her. I think this book is funny, and although a bit unrealistic, a great book for teen girls. Lisi Harisson does a great job of knowing what goes on at a middle school and making her books relate to every girl. I recommend this book to girls who like funny books!!!!

I think others would like to read this book, because Lisi Harisson is a great author, and all girls can relate to the books. They are funny, and exciting to read. You always want to know what will happen next.
